‘We Stand With You’: Celebs Stands Up For Trans Kids After White House Refuses To Protect Them

You’d think protecting children from discrimination would be an easy call for anyone, especially a sitting president, to make — but that’s not the case. Last night, the Trump administration reversed protections the Obama administration enacted allowing transgender students to use the bathrooms that match their gender identity.

Instead of focusing on his campaign promises (where are all those jobs?), Trump decided to eliminate protection from America’s most vulnerable children. Celebrities, politicians and business leaders took to social media to voice their support for transgender kids after Trump’s decision to allow discrimination in schools.

Movie, television, and stage actors all took to Twitter to show support and offer resources for kids.

Musicians also tweeted about their opposition to Trump’s decision to allow more bullying and harassment of transgender kids.

Several tech companies, including Microsoft, came out against Trump’s decision.

When the Obama administration put in place protections for transgender kids last year, then-Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. said, “No student should ever have to go through the experience of feeling unwelcome at school or on a college campus. We must ensure that our young people know that whoever they are or wherever they come from, they have the opportunity to get a great education in an environment free from discrimination, harassment and violence.”

Apparently, Trump doesn’t think American kids are worthy of an existence free of hateful actions.
